Important Update on Email Security - DMARC Records

posted:

We wanted to bring to your attention an important update in the world of email security that could impact those of you who use newsletter mailing services like Mailchimp, Mailerlite, Constant Contact, and others.

Starting from the 1st February, 2024, both Google and Yahoo are implementing a new rule to enhance email security and protect users from potentially harmful emails. This change aims to ensure that emails are authentic, reducing the risk of spoofed emails and enhancing overall email safety.

At NW Design, we have been proactive about implementing robust security measures, including correct SPF and DKIM settings, and we’ve been using DMARC verification for years. However, we understand that not everyone may be familiar with these terms and I know that lots of people don’t have correct SPF and DKIM settings, nevermind DMARC DNS records. <1p>

If you are sending emails on behalf of your domain through a third-party newsletter service and do not have the proper DMARC settings, you could be putting yourself at risk.

Failing to comply with these new security standards may result in your emails being automatically marked as spam or, in more severe cases, being blocked entirely. If you need help with this then please feel free to reach out to our team.
